Our Process
1
The restoration process begins when you contact us about restoring your windows.
2
Once it’s time to ship your windows to us and we receive them they will be checked for any imperfections we may see in the glass itself. They will be marked and pictures will be sent to you via email for you to see. Imperfections will range from smudge marks, scratches, or light spots in the Frit that is factory installed on the Carlite glass.
3
If you then decide to go through with the restoration process, full payment up front will need to be made before any process is started on your windows.
4
Now its time to get dirty! We then remove all the old rubber trim from the glass. We do not use factory rubber in any way, shape or form, nor do we add anything over it. This would be anything from Bondo to epoxy as neither will hold up over time. Painting over either of these when the rubber flexes will cause cracks in the paint.
5
Your glass is then polished to remove anything that can be removed from the glass such as those smudge marks or water spots. SCRATCHES CAN NOT BE REMOVED BY US AND WE WILL NOT BE TRYING TO SAND ANY SCRATCHES OUT OF THE GLASS, however the polishing process will usually soften the appearance of those scratches. It is at this point where the signature “MUSTANG” returns back to a fresh white. No other process can fix faded or any spots in the “MUSTANG” script except by removing the rubber from the glass. We are the only company to do this.
6
Your glass then moves on to the next phases where the new rubber trim is installed to the glass. This is also the step that your factory studs are bonded into the new rubber. We are the only company in the world that offers this process of using new rubber for your quarter glass.
7
Once this is complete it moves to clean up, and then shipping back to you. When we ship your windows to you there will be new nuts and the butyl seal included so they will be ready to install upon receiving them.
